Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 at Goho Was Amazing!

If you’re a regular reader of our blogs, newsletters or social media posts, you’ll know we’re a fun-loving, carefree bunch of Event, Marketing & PR pros! That being said, like many other jobs, sometimes things can become stressful when working in a fast-paced environment, but we wouldn't change it for the world. To continue to do what we love, exploring how we can sustain healthy physical and mental well-being has become a vital part of our daily lives.

To raise awareness during this year's Mental Health Awareness Week, we organised a series of free, wellness-based activities to get people moving (this year's theme for Mental Health Awareness Week was “Moving for your Mental Health”) for their mental health while fundraising for Mind, the mental health charity.

Here’s a fun recap of what we got up to!

Spinning for a cause at 1Rebel

We kicked off our Mental Health Awareness activities with a kick-ass 1Rebel spin class! Our team, especially our MD Stacey, loves a good spin session to get rid of any stress after work.

Studies have found that the repetitive motive of spinning helps ground your body into the current activity therefore taking your mind off of any stress that had built over the day, week, month or year. No wonder why us Goho-ers are 1Rebel obsessed!

The event was a shimmering success with over x people in attendance, we even got a cheeky shout-out from 1Rebel trainer, Janine on our dedication to mind and raising awareness for mental health!

Self Help Book Club: Sharing stories and breaking barriers

Mid-week we slowed things down and arranged a Self Help book club at the elegant Westin London City Hotel.

It was an afternoon where we aimed to break down barriers and share passages from our favourite self-help books within an imitate group. And we did just that!

The team and attendees shared passages that had a real impact on our lives. We formed a safe environment where we shared stories that negatively impacted us and the steps we took, or are currently taking, to overcome them. It was incredible to hear how these books have helped shape our journeys. We laughed, cried and left connected with our feelings and inspired to improve our mental health more than ever!

Here is a list of some of the self-help books our attendees recommended, check them out for yourself:

  • Unfuck Yourself by Gary John Bishop

  • Bank of Me: How to invest in yourself and others to build a great culture by Chris Preston and Jane Sparrow

  • How to Fail by Elizabeth Day

  • The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

  • Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives by David Eagleman

  • It Didn’t Start With You by Mark Wolynn

Walk and talk/tipple

To wrap up our week, we took a stroll along the beautiful river themes exploring our city and engaging in great conversations about mental health, life, work and everything in between. We also treated our attendees to a cheeky gift bag full of our favourite self help products such as vitamins and moisturisers!

Despite the very British weather, we rounded up our walk along the finish line with a light beverage because a little treat is always a good idea!

At Goho we love getting creative with our events. Our Mental Health Awareness week was all about showcasing that mental health can be approached in many different ways and remember, there are numerous ways you can support members of your team who may be struggling. Whether through high energy, impactful workouts, reflective reading sessions or leisure walks with trusted friends and colleagues, your team gatherings can make a difference!

We’re here to help make your team bonding experiences engaging, thoughtful and different. Over the past five years, we have created numerous unforgettable events for industry leads such as Vogue, DRW & Interflora. Check out our portfolio of work here!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made this week so special. We had a blast and hope you did too! Keep an eye out for more exciting events on the horizon on our Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts.
