Give it a Goho: WeJam Immersive Rockstar Experience

We consider ourselves experts at events, but that doesn’t mean we always have to stay behind the scenes - sometimes, we need to steal the spotlight too.

For the second installment of ‘Give it a Goho’ - where we test out the best experiences for team building and client events in London - we went full rockstar mode at WeJam in Camden, the heart of London’s alternative music scene.

So what is it?

If you’re a music lover, you’ve probably heard of Camden guitars. But what most people don’t know is that hidden in the basement, there’s an immersive rockstar experience waiting for the next wannabe band to take their music global.

As you enter the shop and walk past the array of guitars hanging from the shelf, you’ll be led down a hidden staircase towards your own personal recording studio.

The sound-proofed room is decorated with neon lights and contains an entire stage set up complete with microphones, drum kit, keyboards and guitars.

Choose your rockstar destiny

After you’ve chosen your instrument of choice, you’ll have to come up with a star-studded rockstar name to put into your personal music screen.

Our expert guide from WeJam was on hand to help us through every aspect of the experience, acting as our own sound engineer and DJ.

Time to play

We were given ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ by our WeJam guide as we were still newbies at this point, although the song choice received mixed reviews from the crowd.

Everyone held their breath as the lights dimmed and the backing track kicked in - we weren’t entirely sure what standard of musical output to expect this early on in our band’s career.

Each ‘rockstar’ had their own personal screen, which showed the key to press, drum to hit or note to sing, depending on your weapon - or instrument - of choice.

After a shaky start, we eventually started sounding like we came out of the womb playing a guitar - largely thanks to Mika’s expert touch on the keytar.

The Experience

We were starting to get the hang of things, and the next song we did was ‘Rehab’ (it would be rude not to be in the home of Miss Winehouse). We were blown away by Stacey’s lead vocals and diva energy while the rest of the team played along in a supportive role - mirroring our day to day office life. Mel then took to the mic, imitating a real-life Spice Girl by performing Wannabe and making the walls shake.

One thing that really stood out to us was how customisable the experience was - we could choose songs that matched our vibe and switch up instruments whenever we wanted.

Plus, you get a recording at the end, so you can relive the fun (or cringe yourself to death) anytime!

The Verdict: Should you Give WeJam a Goho?

If you’re a music lover, or you want to relive your childhood Guitar Hero heyday, we absolutely recommend WeJam.

Are you looking for a unique client event that’ll impress or a team bonding experience like no other? WeJam is the way to go - it’s 100% worth a try.
