GoShow at Down Hall Hotel

Last week, we kicked off the year with a bang at our first GoShow. January can be a real drag, so we wanted to give our guests something special.

We treated them to a luxurious overnight stay at the stunning Down Hall Hotel, a Victorian country house near Hatfield Heath in Essex.

The wow factor was real when our guests saw the hotel's facade. We checked in and headed straight to the Prior room where Becky, Jen from Down Hall, and Chris from Hotel Republic were waiting with coffee, and champagne (for the caffeine-free folks). Just kidding, we had decaf coffee too, but some people just love their champagne, and we don't blame them for that. Some treats and sweets were included too.

Our guests were in for a treat as they headed to their room. The spacious bathroom with a double-ended copper roll-top bath, a beautiful balcony with views of the property, and a warm welcome goody bag with sweets, refreshments, chocolate, and fluffy socks made the stay even cosier. They also received a full agenda of activities planned for the evening and the next morning.

Evening outfits on, we met again for a quick tour of the hotel's stunning event spaces and let me tell you, they are both elegant and versatile. They're perfect for parties, conferences, meetings, or team-building activities. And speaking of activities, of course, we had to include some fun - we hosted a cocktail masterclass (or mocktail class for those doing Dry Jan...just one person in this case, ahem ). There was even a competition, and the best cocktail won an Afternoon Tea for 2 at the hotel. Sadly, I couldn't be part of the jury.

We then headed to a private room and enjoyed a delicious menu that included Smoked duck, Crab & Crayfish salad and Burrata for starters, Lamb, Chicken, and Mushroom Wellington for mains, and Chocolate fondants, Lemon meringue pies, and Sticky Toffee Puddings for dessert. Obviously, everything accompanied wine - or sparkling Elderflower in my case. We then had some after-dinner drinks by the fireplace.

In the morning, we met for breakfast in the gorgeous Garden Room, and our guests even got to enjoy some spa time before check-out. It was the perfect way to end the work week.

A big thank you to Down Hall and Hotel Republic for organising this with us and to our amazing guests who always make our GoShows unforgettable. See you in February at our next Go Show at Fairgame!
