Goho From Home: Technology
Goho From Home: A Series for SMEs - Technology
Guess who’s back? Back again…
That’s right we delivered our THIRD instalment of our webinar series: Goho From Home, A Series for SMEs. The webinar provided advice on how to use technology to help stay happy, healthy and connected.
This session was really for everyone no matter how much you knew or don’t know about tech - during the briefing we warned against the use of ‘tech jargon’!
Stacey-Rebekka Karlsson, our fabulous Managing Director led the discussion, with these special guests…
Rob Jackson
“I’ve worked in tech for 12 years now - but always had a passion for tech. I work in the sales side of the business - selling a ‘Talent Experience Management’ platform (essentially Amazon for jobs & People).
Siobhan Baker
“Through helping women get into tech, I got into tech! I’ve been training & working in tech for 1.5 years now and I am a software crafter. Essentially it’s like baking a cake. It’s all about putting the right amount of ingredients together and having a clear recipe of how the cake is going to be made.”
Mark Kirby
“I’ve been working in the tech space for the last 6 years - investing in startups, crafting their go-to-market strategies and focusing on growth. I now work closely with organisations on lead generation and how they can engage with website visits.”
Without giving away their tech secrets (you’ll have to watch the session on our site for that!). Below we’ve captured their answers to three key questions.
How can you use tech to support employees at this time?
Rob
There’s lots of amazing tech out there, but I think the focus should be across three areas:
For communication, Google Hangouts or Whatsapp is great in getting face to face time with your team and employees. For wellbeing, try mental health platforms such as Lifeworks, MIND etc. And lastly, use this time to up-skill yourself or your team through technology.
Siobhan
At my organisation, we’re using tech to mimic what we would usually be doing in the workplace, keeping consistency to our working routines e.g mini conferences, time to learn, workshops etc.
Mark
From a business perspective tech should be used to help you support your employees.
What even is The Cloud? AI? Machine Learning?
Rob
Ok big questions there - they are all different! The Cloud (simply put) means you can get rid of your server. AI? It doesn’t actually exist yet, it’s part of Machine Learning which is used to explain crunching huge data sets & finding patterns. Valuable across all businesses.
Siobhan
The cloud is an enabler, nothing has to be physically located in the office.
Mark
They’re all systems that can help to enhance your marketing & overall businesses.
Can you each recommend just one bit of tech…
Rob: Can I say my own? (Laughs) Google Hangouts!
Sobhan - Balance app!
Mark - Got to say Leadoo.
Stacey: Life Sum - it’s free too!
We’ll be posting the recording from this session on our site in the coming days, but in the meantime make sure you register for our next session, where we’ll be discussing Wellbeing.
