Lockdown Valentine's Day Ideas

We all know this Valentine's Day is going to be like no other!

But, being stuck at home doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ourselves...

Valentine's is the season for romancing, right?

Goho’s Izzy Rose has put together her best ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day (and Night!) in Lockdown…. and still making it special!

What day is Valentine’s Day?

Just to give all you nay-sayers a kick-up the bum, Valentine’s Day is on Sunday 14th February this year. You can treat your significant other, best friend, or maybe even your pet to some cute at-home activities this lockdown Valentines. It’s safe to say that they deserve it.

Plan a romantic lockdown meal

Start the day right with a Valentine’s breakfast. Your partner will LOVE their favourite breakfast in bed!

Not much of a kitchen whizz? Have a look at local restaurants who may be offering chef-made meals straight to your door.

What’s more romantic than a steak (or vegan steak!) dinner? Choose from loads of sauces and veggies from online recipe sites like themodernproper.com. We recommend this gorgeous Garlic butter steak recipe by Tasty for a truly indulgent V Day dinner!

You could even choose a specific cuisine and do the full experience: Italian music, Italian wine, Italian pizza, and gelato for afters! Just close your eyes and you're roaming the streets of Italy!

Go on a romantic walk

It's a bit nippy outside but don't let that stop you having a romantic stroll. Wrap up warm and visit your local beauty spot. Make sure that your walk involves a cheeky stop where you can enjoy some supermarket brought fizz and chocolates, too!!

Need more inspiration to get outside? Plan a sunrise or sunset walk and head somehere picturesque to make your excursion extra romantic.

Another top tip: Grab a portable film camera from your local Supermarket or Boots, take some cute nature walk pictures and get them developed for an extra level of fun!

Create a Home Spa Experience

Treat both of you (or the whole family!) with an at-home spa experience. Candles, massages, and a hot bath sprinkled with rose petals or a bath bomb. Get out some matching fluffy dressing gowns, slippers and cucumbers for your eyes to really get your spa vibes on. Play some relaxing music and take the world off your shoulders, just for today…

Fancy something different? Try giving each other foot massages or an at-home facial! You can find amazing from-home spa guides online, here's a great one I love with loads of natural procedures: www.realbuzz.com/articles-interests/health/article/10-at-home-spa-treatments/

Drinks.jpg

Around the Home Pub Crawl

If you love a good drink & a pub crawl (I know my boyfriend does!), then you could make each room in your home a different pub, with a different theme, different music…. and obviously different drinks! Sip on a pint in The Queen’s Head a la living room, try cocktails in the kitchen cocktail bar, then turn the makeshift disco lights on and sip vodka and cokes as you hit the bedroom club!

Get Dressed Up!

Just because you have to stay at home, doesn’t mean you can’t get dressed up! Put that lippy on or get out that little black dress…. dust off that suit. Play some funky music because tonight you’re going OUT out (but staying in!)

Use your outdoor space

There may well be no better time to enjoy an evening under the stars than Valentine’s Day in Lockdown. Make sure you’re wearing plenty of layers, get out some blankets and snuggle under the winter sky.

Netflix and Chill

Not sure this needs any explaining, everyone knows what they are doing here. Just make sure you get yummy snacks…. all those big-screen marathons are bound to give you an appetite!

Why not pop your own popcorn? Have you tried using a popcorn maker? I have found the perfect popcorn lover guide to popcorn from home and what equipment is the best, see here.

Plan some future romantic experiences

We may be in lockdown right now, but it's important to remember; it won't last forever! Snuggle up together under a blanket and browse holidays, days out and experiences on your laptop. Plan some things to look forward to when life resumes to normality! We’ll drink that!
