Miracle Design & Play
The Brief
Miracle Design & Play wanted to hold an away day for their entire team that was to consist of one or a number of fun activities in the day with lunch and ending with dinner and a party for the entire team. They preferably wanted to hold the whole thing in one area and not have to move around once there.
The Challenge
Having connected with them only a month or so before the event was due to happen, time was already not on our side to put this event together. Our client was completely sold on one particular venue that we found that was to consist of activities such as archery and axe throwing, with a huge experiential immersive BBQ and drinks and dancing into the evening, followed by glamping at their onsite facilities. After a site visit, the MD had reservations about this venue due to so much of the day being held outside. Should wet weather prevail, it could have made this venue a much less desirable one. With the first venue out of the running we had very minimal time to find somewhere else to host something similar but less outdoors. We put our thinking caps on as a team and came up with the idea of activities at The Bear Grylls' Experience in Birmingham, followed by a stay at The Genting Hotel just a few minutes walk from Bear Grylls. Thankfully, the client loved this idea and we were able to push forward and get everything arranged.
Our Approach
In the interest in team building and keeping the team members as together as they could be, we hired the events room at the Bear Gryll's experience so that between activities everybody had a central base to congregate in. We put on a delicious grazing table for the team to snack on as they came in and out of their activities. So impressed were the client, the MD actually thought that it was their lunch and team Goho heard more than one individual comment that it was "the best grazing table they had ever seen!". With the teams divided into groups of four there was lots of friendly competition adding to the excitement. They took part in Archery, Axe Throwing, High Wire and Escape Rooms. We ensured there was something for everybody from the more high octane experiences to something less full on for those that preferred lower impact.
After the games, we all headed over to the beautiful Genting Hotel which was right on the lake at The Birmingham NCC. In a private room, a delicious hot and cold buffet lunch was served. After this, the client spoke with their staff and did a presentation to all. At the end of the presentation, Goho presented the winning team of the games with a huge trophy and medals for all to wear proudly!
Then there were a couple of hours of free time for all before a delicious three course dinner was served in the top floor event space which had a beautiful terrace attached for all to enjoy some pre dinner drinks in the end of day sunshine. We meticulously table planned the seating and orchestrated the smooth running of the dinner choices, which everybody was very impressed with. After their delicious dinner, they all danced into the night to songs provided by our DJ and a dress up box for photos that we put together for all of the team.
Results
Miracle Design & Play were over the moon with the results and commented on what a difference it made to them to have us on site dealing with any teething issues and getting everybody where they needed to be at the right times so they can concentrate on the content of the day and essentially spending time with all of their staff which is what the whole day was about.
