Morning Gloryville Festival
Morning Gloryville Festival @ The Steel Yard 17/11/2019
Roxy Fielding - Head of Business Development @ Goho Marketing & EventsClean rave?! Yeah right. That was my first thought when my friend was explaining the party they’d been to that morning before work.
Raving and getting lubricated generally goes hand in hand and the concept of being at a dance party, where every single person present is sober, is alien to me.
But… it actually very much exists and the wonderful minds at Morning Gloryville have been throwing these inspirational, energising booze and drug-free events since 2013.
When we received the invitation from Neil, the Magical Maestro of MGV for their festival at The Steel Yard, in between Bank and London Bridge, I couldn’t say no, especially as week on week, we are receiving an increasing amount of holistic style event briefs.
To get the full family vibe, I recruited my 8 year old as my camera man for the day and we set on our merry way, early doors on that Sunday. I have been to The Steel Yard on many occasions so it felt a little strange rocking up there, holding my little one’s hand but as soon as we got to the doors at the entrance, that all changed. The first thing I felt there was warmth, big smiles and open arms. There were also lots of other very excited children in the queue, covered in glitter and face paint, working all sorts of costumes.
Levi and I lived in Ibiza for a number of years and have been to many ‘family friendly’ parties, but they generally involve the kids going absolutely wild and the parents even wilder! It didn’t feel the same as that here.
Once inside, it didn’t take me long to find Neil. He is one of those people whose presence you can feel as soon as he steps into the room. He was extremely friendly and has a very welcoming energy. Firstly, he invited me to join him in a Cacao ceremony which was rather delightful and made me feel a little lifted and fuzzy. He explained to me the concept of their experience, mixing wellbeing with yoga, massages, botanical drinks, vegan food and dancing whilst on the tour of the club, showing each area and explaining the benefits of the different practices... we then did a little mooching around on our own before finding the drumming circle. This was probably one of my favourite and definitely one of Levi’s favourite parts of the event. Less Stone Circle, hippy vibe a bit more Rock ‘n’ Roll Pyramid Stage. The guy conducting the circle was brilliant and the atmosphere it created was unreal, it’s almost like you were part of a collective synergy. Both our hands were red raw at the end but it was fully worth it.
All in all, we had a marvellous time at the event and I would recommend it to anyone who is not only interested in having a lot of fun (without the wretched hangover) but also interested in being part of a glowing community who have an invested interest in their bodies and minds!
A truly positive way to spend a morning.
